About the Journal
Annals of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgery
Aims and Scope
The Annals of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgery (ISSN 2518-6973; Ann Laparosc Endosc Surg; ALES; ales.amegroups.com) is an international, open-access, peer-reviewed journal covering research and clinical aspects of minimal access surgery in general surgery, gastro-intestinal surgery, urological surgery, gynecology & obstetrics, orthopedic surgery, otolaryngology and head & neck surgery. It aims at promoting the development of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgery around the world. The main role of the Journal is to be a professional and comprehensive platform for surgeons around the world to share results of research, diffuse and analyze innovative or traditional surgical techniques, and provide the reader with up-to-date knowledge in the field of laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery, for the ultimate benefit of patients.
The Annals of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgery (ALES) has been indexed and covered by Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) since 2018.
Published articles include both invited articles and submitted papers in the field of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgery. Invited manuscripts include articles on surgical procedures, e-Comments on published articles, and editorials on papers published in the Journal, solicited from recognized experts in these fields. Currently the journal publishes thematic issues in pre-defined areas of interest. A rigorous review process, supervised by a strong editorial board, assures the high quality of its content.
The journal also welcomes a wide range of submission types, including high-quality research, clinical trials reports, review articles, video clips, editorials or letters to the editor, just to mention a few. One of our more recent additions is a new section on surgical techniques, including educational video clips. Again, a rigorous peer-review system is in place to assure the high quality of clinical content, relevance and correct methodology.
For medical students, ALES will be a learning platform to learn and strengthen skills, for expert surgeons, a professional platform to share and fine-tune their knowledge in minimal access surgery.
