In 2024, ALES reviewers continue to make outstanding contributions to the peer review process. They demonstrated professional effort and enthusiasm in their reviews and provided comments that genuinely help the authors to enhance their work.

Hereby, we would like to highlight some of our outstanding reviewers, with a brief interview of their thoughts and insights as a reviewer. Allow us to express our heartfelt gratitude for their tremendous effort and valuable contributions to the scientific process.

Interviews with Outstanding Authors (2024)

In 2024, many ALES authors make outstanding contributions to our journal. Their articles published with us have received very well feedback in the field and stimulate a lot of discussions and new insights among the peers.

Hereby, we would like to highlight some of our outstanding authors who have been making immense efforts in their research fields, with a brief interview of their unique perspective and insightful view as authors.

ALES Annual Report (2023)

With the opportunity, we are delighted to present the 2023 annual report of ALES. Till December 31, 2023, ALES boasts a diverse Editorial Board comprising 80 members from 18 different countries. 35 articles have been published last year. Corresponding authors came from 11 countries, with mostly from USA. According to the Google Analytics, website visitors of last year reached to 263,183 with 450,646 pageviews. Readership was from diverse countries, with majority from USA, followed by India, UK, Australia and Canada. For a comprehensive overview, please refer to the detailed report below.

The 21^st Annual Scientific Writing Course from October 3rd to October 4th, 2024 in Zürich, Switzerland

The Association for Research in Surgery (ARS) of the Swiss Surgical Society, in collaboration with the British Journal of Surgery, is organizing a two-day retreat designed to teach the theoretical and practical aspects of writing good scientific manuscripts, from Thursday, October 3^rd to Friday, October 4^th, 2024. The course will include both formal lectures on various aspects of scientific writing, as well as tutorial sessions incorporating practical exercises, during which participants will have the opportunity to critically appraise their unpublished manuscripts.

Note from the Editors-in-Chief

We have been working hard to bring ALES to the limelight in the medical publication world and as an indispensable vector of scientific information to the medical community, and in particular our surgical colleagues.

As of June 28^th 2023, we are pleased to announce that ALES has obtained its first impact factor for the 2022 citation year: 0.5 (news at https://ales.amegroups.org/announcement/view/240).

We are pleased to announce that the Annals of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgery (ALES) has received its 2022 CiteScore: 1, ranking 320 out of 495 journals in the Surgery category.

Furthermore, we are delighted to highlight the remarkable achievements made by all AME journals in the CiteScore ranking.

The First Impact Factor for Annals of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgery: 0.5

We are pleased to announce that Annals of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgery (ALES) has attained its first impact factor for the 2022 citation year: 0.5 (Figure 1).
