Andrew Stevenson (Colorectal Surgery)

Dr. Andrew Stevenson is past Head of the Colorectal Surgery department at Royal Brisbane, recent Chair of the ANZ Training Board in Colorectal Surgery and is currently Associate Professor of surgery at University of Queensland, Australia.

Along with the team in Brisbane, Dr. Stevenson has conducted over 200 workshops on minimally invasive techniques and and now conducts regular masterclasses on transanal TME, ventral rectopexy and robotics both locally and overseas. He has pioneered and championed both ventral rectopexy and transanal TME in Australasia.

Dr. Stevenson has been closely involved in the international consensus forum into the development of new minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of rectal prolapse (ventral rectopexy), as well as the recent international consensus on transanal TME for rectal cancer. He has served on a number of editorial boards and is a regular reviewer and principal investigator for a number of multi centre trials on minimal invasive colorectal surgery (including ALaCaRT and the new trial of robotic v. laparoscopic colectomy - RoBoT).
