Dr. Philippe Rouanet is an oncologic surgeon in the Montpellier Cancer Institute, Professor of Oncology at the Montpellier medical university.

Dr. Rouanet has a large activity in the field of Surgical Oncology as for GI tumors, Breast or gynecologic malignancies. He has published 220 scientific papers and chapters, and has presented at more than 400 meetings or seminars.

He is member of the European Society of Surgical Oncology, the European Society for Surgical Research, the French society of breast disease and the European society of colo proctology. He was made Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur (2016).

Dr. Rouanet has developed for a long time minimally invasive surgery for GI tumors and pelvic recurrence, first by laparoscopy then by robotic surgery.

He published one of the first series of Trans anal TME performed by a proctoscope. His surgical team has operated more than 1000 patients by ROBOT of whom 500 rectal carcinoma.

Dr. Rouanet was one of the founders of the French group of research for rectal carcinoma (GRECCAR) and has conducted a lot of surgical trial.

At the moment, he is the principal investigator of a European trial which studies the efficiency of four surgical techniques for difficult rectal carcinoma patients. This trial, called RESET, is endorsed by the ESCP and will recruit 1300 patients in 10 European countries.
