David A. Geller, MD (Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery)

Dr. Geller is the Richard L. Simmons Professor of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He serves as Chief of the Division of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, and Director of the UPMC Liver Cancer Center. Clinically, he specializes in laparoscopic liver resection surgery. His research interests include molecular mechanisms of hepatic ischemia/ reperfusion injury, and liver cancer cell biology. Dr. Geller is a member of many professional societies including the Society of University Surgeons (President 2009-2010), ASA, ASTS, SSO, AHPBA, IHPBA, SSAT, and ASCI. Dr. Geller has published 320 scientific papers and chapters, and has presented at more than 400 meetings or seminars. He has active research funding from the NIH.
