Masahiko Murakami, MD, PhD (Gastrointestinal Surgery)

Dr. Murakami, born in 1955, in Tokyo, was given the medical license after graduation from Showa Medical University in 1981, and worked in Department of Surgery in Showa University Hospital as a resident. 

During his five years residency in Showa University Hospital, he got a doctor of medicine in 1986. He was trained to be experienced in clinical and research work of surgical endoscopy and Gastroenterological surgery. Owing to his excellent laparoscopic skill and academic performance, he was got Surgical Skill Certification of Japan Society for Endoscopic Surgery in 2004. He continued his study, and assumed as a professor of Division of Gastroenterological & General Surgery in Department of Surgery in Showa University Hospital affiliated to Showa University School of medicine in 2009. 

Dr. Murakami assumes the Instructor of Japanese Society of Gastroenterological Surgery, Japan Surgical Society, Japanese Society of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery and Japan Esophageal Society. He join a member of a program in Japan Surgical Society, Japan Society for Endoscopic Surgery, Japan Surgical Association and Japan Esophageal Society. He is contributing reviewer of the Journal of Japanese Society for Abdominal Emergency Medicine and Japan Surgical Society. He is an editorial member of the Journal of Japan Surgical Association.  

Dr. Murakami has been long engaged in clinical and research work of laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery in gastroenterological part, especially in thoracoscopic and laparoscopic esophagectomy. His scientific research, teaching and academic exchanges have also a quite influence both at nation and abroad.
