Dr. Andrew Wang is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine. Dr. Wang has been at UVA since 2007. He was trained in Internal Medicine at the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University. Dr. Wang completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Pennsylvania, and he completed an advanced endoscopy fellowship at UVA. Dr. Wang was Co-Medical Director of Endoscopy at UVA from 2010-2016, and in 2016 he became Chief of the Section of Interventional Endoscopy and Director of Interventional Endoscopy for the UVA Medical Center.

Dr. Wang specializes in ERCP, interventional EUS, conventional and underwater EMR, ESD, and POEM procedures. He is an active member, supporter, and Fellow of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), and the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA). 

Dr. Wang has published over 60 peer reviewed papers, and he has served on the editorial review boards for several prestigious journals including the Video Journal and Encyclopedia of GI Endoscopy, Journal of Interventional Gastroenterology, Video Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Wang is passionate about endoscopic education and research, and he is interested in fostering international educational and research collaboration between endoscopists worldwide.
