Prof. Eduardo M Targarona, FACS, was born in Barcelona, Spain in 1956. Trained at the Medical faculty of the University of Barcelona, developed his residence training at the Hospital Clinic in Barcelona, and followed by one year research fellowship at the same hospital. He has worked as staff surgeon at e service of Surgery of hospital Mutua de Terrassa, Hospital Clinic and currently is the Chief of Unit of Gastrointestinal and Hematological Surgery at the Hospital de Santpau of Barcelona, Spain. Dr. Targarona is as well Professor of Surgery at the Medical School of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Dr. Targarona’s main clinical fields of interest have been minimally invasive surgery, with special interest in esophago- gastric benign disease, colorectal surgery and solid organ MIS, with special interests on the minimally invasive surgery of the spleen. He is currently the President of the Spanish Surgical Association, as well of the Europeans Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES), and Chairman of the General and Digestive Surgery Spanish Board. He is Subject Editor of Surgical Endoscopy as well Senior Editor of Cirugia  Española, official journal of the AEC, and member of the editorial board of  Journal of Lpaaroscopic Surgery and Endoscopy, Surgival Innovation, Gastroenterologia y Hepatologia and Revista Española de Enfermeddades Digestivas. He is author or coauthor of more of 200 indexed scientific papers as well 70 books chapters.
