Jong-Han Kim, MD (Gastrointestinal Surgery)

Dr. Jong-Han Kim, born in 1970, in Seoul, was given the medical master degree after graduation from Korea University College of Medicine in 1996, and worked in Department of Surgery in Korea University Medical Center as a resident. From 2002 to 2005, he work as a public health doctor for the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Korea. 

During his two years fellowship in Department of Surgery, Korea University Medical Center, he was trained to be an experienced surgeon with team spirit and skillful upper gastrointestinal surgical technique. In 2007, he became the full time faculty, professor in Department of Surgery, Korea University Ansan Hospital. 

Owing to his excellent academic performance, he was sponsored by hospital to go abroad to Department of Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery, Oregon Health & Science University in United States of America as a visiting professor from 2011 to 2012. During his one-year visiting in U.S., he was trained to be more experienced in clinical and research work of bariatric and metabolic surgery.

Dr. Jong-Han Kim’s major concern is foregut surgery, especially gastric cancer surgery and oncologic treatment for gastric cancer patients. Also, he has been interested in metabolic and bariatric surgery and anti-reflux surgery for gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Now, Dr. Jong-Han Kim is working as a member of various study groups, such as Korean Gastric Cancer Association (KGCA), Korean Laparoscopic GI Surgery Study Group (KLASS), Korean Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (KSMBS), Korean Anti-Reflux Surgery Study Group (KARS).

He continued his study and published a lot of papers about gastric cancer and foregut surgery as a corresponding and co-authors in international heavyweight journals including Annals of Surgery, Annals of Surgical Oncology.
