Po-Li Wei, MD, PhD (Colorectal Surgery)

Dr. Po-Li Wei is the Vice Superintendent of Taipei Medical University Hospital (TMUH). He is also Professor of Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery at TMUH and Professor of Department of Surgery at Taipei Medical University (TMU).

Dr. Wei graduated from School of Medicine, National Taiwan University (NTU) and he received surgical training at Department of Surgery within National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH). After training program, he started his career as a colorectal surgeon and member of society of colon and rectal surgeons, R.O.C since 1997. Dr. Wei is one of pioneer laparoscopic colorectal surgeons in Taiwan. He has more than 1000 laparoscopic colorectal surgeries and he is also the training consultant of Taiwan Association for Endoscopic Surgery.

Besides, Dr. Wei is also a pioneer robotic colorectal surgeon in Taiwan and he is currently as the Executive Director of Taiwan Robotic Surgery Association. He is experienced in robotic rectal cancer surgery, robotic TAMIS and robotic SILS.

In addition to clinical achievement, Dr. Wei finished his PhD degree in 2009 and he has lots of publication focusing on mechanism of colon cancer proliferation, metastasis and therapeutic response.

Dr. Wei is the recipient of the excellent thesis of the year 2010 by international college of surgeons and he also has won a lot of other awards including Best Video award in annual meeting of Surgical Association Republic of China, Best Advisor Award, Distinguished Teaching Award and Faculty Award of Taipei Medical University. He is frequently invited to lecture internationally and has mentored a large number of trainees.
