Dr. Pierpaolo Sileri graduated summa cum laude at the University of Rome Tor Vergata in 1998. He spent 3 years at the University of Illinois at Chicago as fellow and then instructor of surgery. He obtained the degree of Master of Surgery at the same University in 2002. He completed his residency in Gastrointestinal Surgery in 2005 at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. From 11/2003 to 03/2005 he trained in Colorectal Surgery in Oxford. In 2006 he obtained the PhD degree in “Technology, informatics and robotics in Surgery”. Being Academic Consultant Surgeon at the University of Rome Tor Vergata since 2008, Director of the Colorectal Master Program at the same University, Dr. Sileri’s research focus covers inflammatory bowel disease, gastrointestinal cancer, and functional diseases. The majority of the current research is focused on minimally invasive gastrointestinal and colorectal surgery. He’s author of more that 100 peer reviewed paper on highly impacted journals, books chapters as well as editor of books and society practice guidelines. He serves in several committees of international and national surgical societies as well as in editorial boards of international journals.
