Dr. Fion Siu-Yin CHAN graduated from Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong and received her surgical training in Queen Mary Hospital. She became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Hong Kong Academy of Medicine in 2006. She then joined the Division of Esophageal and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery at Queen Mary Hospital. She is currently Consultant of the Department of Surgery, Queen Mary Hospital and The University of Hong Kong - Shenzhen Hospital, The University of Hong Kong. In additional to minimally invasive surgery for esophageal and gastric cancer, she is keen in the development of endoscopic surgery for mucosal lesions, submucosal lesions and achalasia, surgical treatment for gastrointestinal reflux disease as well as bariatric and metabolic surgery. 

She received GB Ong Travelling Grant in 2009 and has visited internationally renowned centers to acquire advanced techniques in endoscopic and minimally invasive surgery. She has visited Bariatric & Metabolic International (B.M.I.) Surgery Center at Eda Hospital at Kaoshiang, Taiwan; Gastric Cancer Center at the Seoul National University Hospital at Seoul, South Korea and Showa University International Training Center for Endoscopy, Digestive Disease Center at Showa University Northern Yokohama Hospital at Yokohama, Japan. She is treasurer of the Hong Kong Society of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons. 

Her research interests include enhanced recovery for esophageal and gastric cancer, clinical applications of advanced endoscopic procedures in foregut diseases and bariatric surgery for obesity and metabolic syndrome.
