Seung-Ho Choi (Gastrointestinal Surgery)

Prof. Choi, born in 1958, was graduated from Yonsei University in 1982, and received the residency program in the department of surgery, Severance Hospital, Yonsei University College of Medicine. After 2 years of fellowship in Severance Hospital, he became a staff in Gangnam Severance Hospital in 1994. He worked in Niigata University, Japan in 1995 and Keio University, Japan in 1998 for training of gastric cancer surgery. Also, he was a fellow in the department of surgical oncology, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, USA between 1996 and 1998. Since 2005, he has been a professor in the department of surgery, Gangnam Severance Hospital. 

Prof. Choi was a secretary general of Korean Cancer Association (2006-2008), president of Korean Laparoendoscopic Study Group (2011-2013), president of Korean Society for Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (2014-2015) and congress president of International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders, Asia-Pacific Chapter (2015). Now, he is the president of Korean Gastric Cancer Association and director, Gangnam Severance Cancer Center. 

Prof. Choi is a pioneer of minimal invasive surgery for gastric cancer. He has been engaged in clinical and research work for gastric cancer. Recently, he extended his work into bariatric and metabolic surgery. He involved in many clinical trials, teaching programs, and academic activities at nation and internationally. He has published more than 100 papers.
