Type II diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a global epidemic that is strongly linked with obesity. While the prevalence of T2DM and obesity has been rapidly cumulating in Asia, more and more research attentions are raised on the long-term metabolic impact of LSG on Asian T2DM patients. Although emerging systematic reviews on the long-term results of LSG have been recently published, most of these results were focusing on data from North America, Latin America and Europe. Specific attention on the long-term results of LSG on Asian T2DM patients was lacking in the literature. In this review, the current literature evidence about the long-term results of LSG on weight reduction and diabetic remission in Asian T2DM patients was analyzed.
