Colonoscopic polypectomy

Wanda Lam, Melissa Times

Abstract

Colonoscopy serves as a diagnostic and therapeutic modality for colorectal cancer screening, as well as treatment for precancerous lesions and even early carcinoma. The management of colorectal polyps is founded upon the adenoma-carcinoma sequence, which provides insight as to how colorectal cancers are developed through a series of genetic dysregulations. Endoscopic polypectomy techniques are widely employed in the everyday clinical setting. This article provides an overview of different polypectomy techniques, complications, and surveillance after polypectomy.
