The article “A multicenter matched comparison of transanal and robotic total mesorectal excision for mid and low-rectal adenocarcinoma” as published in the 2018 issue of Annals of Surgery, reports very informative data. The transanal total mesorectal excision (TaTME) is the most noteworthy item in recent years. Surgical robot enables precise dissection within narrow and deep pelvis. Therefore, it is a very useful tool to perform total mesorectal excision (robotic TME, RTME).
